Default Modifying the default template in v4.

Greetings,

I've been using 68 Classifieds for over year now. It's the best classifieds software that I've found anywhere and I can tell you, that I've looked at quite a lot of them. Now since the new version 4 is out, there has been even more people coming to the same conclusion about the software.

I am posting this document, "68c_v4_mod_template.pdf" for free to the group. It is my contribution to give back to the 68c community. It is my hope that this will help those that are new to 68 Classifieds as well as those that are upgrading from the v3.x.

This is an excerpt from an e-Book that I am working on and will be releasing in the future. This excerpt covers the basic default layout in version 4. It explains how the HTML, CSS work together and most importantly, how you can change the logo at the top to your logo as well as the footer information to your information.

I hope that you will find this useful. Feel free to post any comments, suggestions or questions that you may have regarding this document in this thread.

download

Sincerely,
-Mike

Default Thanks

Thanks Mike-N-Toch!
I had created my own template for the previous version, but it looks like it is not compatible with the new version of the software. I guess I am going to have to change the layout again to go back to what I had.
Thanks again!

Hi Mike,

How's your real estate template going? Here's a nice template I like:

Hopefully you can make something similar or better.

Thumbs up Can't wait

Hi Mike n Toch,

How is you book coming along?

I read excerpts from your book and man was glued to the tube til 4:20 am. Can you help me? I followed all steps and at the end I could not see my changes on the website. I did the following:

1) Copy folder and rename testing.
2) Logged in at ADMIN and changed template layout to testing.
3) Using notepad++ I modified the layout.tpl file to reflect my info
4) I uploaded it to the testing folder
5) I visited my website but did not see any changes.
6) I CHMOD to 777 the existing layout.tpl file under testing (copied folder).
7) I visited my website but did not see any changes.

What did I miss? Again, how is your book coming along.

I am new to programing scrips and am looking forward to learning channels where they teach using 68 classified examples.

Hey, thanks for the free excerpt it gave me more energy to hang in there!!!

The book is coming along slowly. There's a lot to cover with a script as powerful as 68c is.

As far as your issue with your "testing" template...
Make sure that you uploaded your revised layout.tpl file to your testing folder (I know it sounds basic, but we've all make simple mistakes before)

Try clearing out your templates_c directory (that's where the compiled smarty pages are kept)

Did you ever use the "purple" template and then change the template from the pulldown menu within that? If so, then you will need to delete the cookie file in your browser. It would be listed as yoursite and template.

Hope that helps,
-Mike
