What about a 'a private messaging system' module ?

A private message system is in the works. So if any one else has any more ideas please post them here.

a button : 'report to admin', to alert the administrator when an abusive message has been sent.

This wouldn't be much work to do with a module I've made already - user's online. I think I'll add that one in now.

I think modelling it after the VB private message system would be a good start.

I agree ... modelling it after the VB private message system is a great start. I like how you can save messages into folders and when you log in you see at top of page if you have any new/unread messages.

I imagine the developers are already on the right track with coding this module. The devs can also look at the private messaging systems of ebay.com and roommates.com for any additional ideas. I'm looking forward to the module

Hopefully the first beta will be released in January.

Here is currently the way the private message system works. Of course this is pre-release so it may change.

• You only have two folders inbox and outbox. (May be expanded later).
• If you receive a spam message you can "flag" or mark it as spam which will remove it from the users inbox and it will stay in the system so the administrator can look at it and take any necessary actions. Such as banning the member, etc.
• The administrator can define the max number of stored pms and whether it is turned on or not. If it is turned off the original email contact form will be used.
• You will also be able to send a private message to any user by using a popup window search. But you can only send one message to one user. I believe this will help prevent spamming since you can't send a bunch of spam messages.

I believe it is in v4 (which is in beta).
