Default Seach to home.tpl

Is there a way to add the search to the home page? Not the standard "search for this text" but the one that expands to the searchable fields when you select the category.

I think you can do this although I have never tried.

What you will need to do is copy out all the javascript and the form from the search template file and place it in home.tpl.php

Cool

Tried that. It puts the form with only text to search for and a category select box, but there's no choices except "all" for that. This of course means none of the searchable fields for that category are available either.

I forgot about the category portion. If you have the developer edition you can add this code in the index.php file:
PHP Code:
$tree cat_tree(""0);
$class_tpl->assign('getcats'$tree);

I would suggest somehow putting it in your layout.tpl then you can use this on anypage you wish.

You will however have to add the
PHP Code:
$tree cat_tree(""0);
$class_tpl->assign('getcats'$tree);
function to the php pages.

For the content pages you would have to make the same changes listed above and add the php code to the pages.php file and not in the text editor in the administration.

Buying maffo's search module? if you dont want featured listings on the front page just rename the search.php to index.php
