Default Listing Packages versus Memberships

I am having some trouble understanding my system. I am wanting to create a 12-month Special Offer free membership for unlimited classified ad postings. I have created various listing packages, membership packages, and created a coupon for 100%, but I am unsure of how to actually make this all work. When the new user registers, they obviously want to start placing ads, so when they click "Place An Ad", it goes to the listing packages at checkout, then they have to enter the coupon again to keep from being forwarded to PayPal, etc. Shouldn't it just simply move forward and let them finish as they already have a membership? Or do they need to select "Puchase a Membership" first? When they register as a member, then use the listing packages, their ads are not counting against them on their membership listings.

I am sorry if I am sounding too confusing as I am getting frustrtated. Can someone please help???? Soon...

Thanks.

When you create a membership you assign packages that can be used with the membership. Then users can buy a membership from the link in the nav menu.

Once a user has purchased a membership when they goto place an ad, if they chose a category that has a package assigned to it that in turn has a membership defined which can place an ad for the package they will be presented the normal buttons for selecting an ad package but they will also have buttons so they can select to place an ad via a package utilizing their membership.

Thanks. Kind of makes sense, but I think that I just realized how much more advanced the program is than what I really need it for.

I think that I now have it where I want it (for the time being)!
