Default SEO Mod Installation Question?

Hey guys!

I recently downloaded the latest version of the Search Engine Friendly Mod 2.1.1 but got a little confused when it came to install it. Here's what I found.

1. I opened up the seo-v2.1.1 folder and found an upload folder and a readme file. The readme file seems to have old instructions that don't seem to relate to the newest version of 68Classifieds.

2. So I opened the upload folder and found a 1.htaccess file and a modules folder.

3. Now I opened the modules folder and found a seo folder which I then opened up.

4. Now I find a few files config, hooks, and mod_user along with another readme file.

5. The readme file seems to have another set of installation instructions that seems to be more current but very different from the original readme file.

Sorry for my confusion and I may be missing something obvious but could you send me a current step by step instructions before I mess something up. I've been known to do that from time to time?

Thanks

George

Upload the 1.htaccess file in your root directory then rename it to .htaccess . Do it this way round as many machines will consider .filename to be a hidden file.

Upload the SEO folder to the modules directory. Goto the modules area in your 68C admin control panel and activate the module.

Follow any other instructions for customisation of the .htaccess and hooks.php files although at a first pass you probably will not need to do that and if you do be careful to keep backup copies.

Thank you very much for your help Seymourjames!

That makes more sense to me. I will give it a shot. Thanks again for the quick response.

Default SEO Installation does not functions

Hi.
I see that you are talking about SEO Module activation. Well I am traying to activate from few days ago but I am always getting errors. I follow these steps:
The steps that I have follow are:
1. I have downloaded and descompressed the SEO Module, after I have renamed
the 1.htaccess to .htaccess and uploaded to the root directory.
2. I have copied the seo folder to the modules folder in the server.
3. I have done what you say in the readme.txt file: “1. Open the file
templates/xxx/layout.tpl where xxx is your template directory and add this
line above the style sheet:
“, my site folder is Fluid-Charcoal
and its changed.
4. Finally I have activated my module from the admin panel and it doesn’t
functions.

Thank you.

David.

Do send your 68C admin control panel details and FTP details to us and we will take a quick look. It could be a whole number of reasons including version incompatibility. You may want to consider upgrading to the sigma templates as they are current with the current version of 68 classifieds.
