Default How to validate templates with w3c

Hi,

I am just trying to validate my templates and I went on http://validator.w3.org/ and as I work in localhost, I validate by direct input.

I start to validate my layout.tpl and I found a few errors. So just to compare as I made a lot of code changes, I tried to validate the original layout.tpl from version v4.1.10 and I found as well 16 errors.

Could someone tell me what I am doing wrong, please, thank you.

I don't think you are suppose to validate .tpl files, if you want to check if your web site has xhtml/css errors then you simply type in your pages. Because .tpl files are called upon using smarty, I think they are more like functions and not web pages. Others will correct me if I am wrong.

ex: www.yoursite.com/index.html
www.yoursite.com/search.html

In truth I would not worry or over worry about compliance. Nearly all of the the most prestigious and high traffic sites are non-compliant. Its worth getting close and that there are no serious errors but if it shows fine in the main browsers then that is all that is really important. Its about being practical and using a balance but not to go OTT about these things.
