Default Search Settings - Listing Sort

Hello,
I am having trouble getting the ads to sort the way I would like.
In admin>search settings>listing sort; when I set to Date added/Descending, this works great = new ads placed go to the top.
I would also like to have it that when a person renews an ad, it would also go to the top.

I changed the setting to Expiration date /ascending thinking this would cause both scenarios; new ads would go to the top and ads renewed would go to the top based on the expiration date.
Does not work for both, when tested it is just the same, new to the top only.

Thoughts? Is there a way to accomplish this?

THANK YOU
Chris

The sort order gos by the date an ad was placed. When an ad is renewed the date it was placed does not change, only the date when it expires.

To accomplish what you want, you would have to edit the core code to update the ads placement date when an ad is renewed.

Larry,
Thank you for the quick response.
That makes sense to why in actually says: "initial sort" in the admin are.
This area is only changing the initial sort with the choices. Not impacting renewals at all. Too Bad. I think I will just come up with a work around instead of trying to change code. I just thought it would be nice for renewal to have the benefit of moving to the top.

THANKS
Chris

One thing many people do is that they put featured to the top. At the point of renewal they really try to encourage the seller to feature their advert. It might work for you.
