Default UTF-8 support

Using: V4.1.6 Designer with deepsea template

The letter å, ä and ö is not displayed correctly. I followed the guide here UTF-8 - 68 Classifieds but was not able to include the code in the mysql.php file. I got an Fatal error on my page when including the code. Exactly where shall I put this code? $this->query("set names utf8");

Thanks!

Are you running the designer or developer edition?

Hi,

I´m using the designer version! It´s the language file I´m having problem with. ÅÄÖ works fine for the locations I added in the acp!

I have seen this before. The easiest fix is to be sure you are saving the language file in UTF-8 format from your text editor. I know textmate has this option and others. So you may want to refer to the user guide of the editor.

Also you can use the html entities for those characters:
Code:
Å = Å
Ä = Ä
Ö = Ö

I saved the file through a texteditor in the UTF-8 format and now it displays as it should!

Thank you!

Hi,

I have a sort order problem with the characters ÅÄÖ in my categories and my locations. Locations and categories that begins with ÅÄÖ ends up in the wrong place. I have edited class_categories and class_states in phpmyadmin so it uses utf8_swedish_ci but it did not help. How can I solve this?

Thanks!

I am sorry but you may need to elaborate more. What do you mean by they end up the wrong locations?

Ok!

The letters åäö comes after z in the swedish alphabet. So its xyzåäö. But for my locations and categories they don´t. Locations that starts with ö and ä ends up between locations that starts with a and b for example. They should end up last. Same for categories..

Why not use the 68C admin control panel to weight your categories. There is a box provided. You can then make them appear in any order you wish. Click on the little i to see how it works.

Oh, I did not know that. That fixes my categories, but the locations still looks a little messed up..
