The system doesnt differentiate admin users from anyone else so all user groups have the same setable options. Can you make admins a banned group? Yes. Would you ever want to, probably not.

At the end of the day sometimes it just doesnt make any sense to spend extra time coding in something that should be blatantly obvious. The only people who should be seeing that screen are admins and if the admins dont have the common sense to not set the admin group to banned then perhaps they shouldnt be admins in the first place.

I think your only way back is to look at editing the database. Use PhP admin. The data should look like this I believe for version 4.1.5

-- ----------------------------
-- Records of `class_user_groups`
-- ----------------------------
INSERT INTO `class_user_groups` VALUES ('1', 'Administrators', 'Administrators', '', 'Y', 'Y', 'Y', 'Y', 'Y', 'Y', 'N', 'N', 'N', 'N', 'Y', 'Y', 'Y', 'Y', 'Y', 'Y', 'Y', 'Y', 'N', 'N', 'N', 'N', 'Y'),

when you then have access again you can use the control panel to start setting what values you specifically want.

I'm sorry should admins be a banned group or is this a mistake? I don't know who changed it.Thanks for the suggestion about the database,I was trying to figure it out.

As Larry said, admins should not be banning the admin group. If you cannot unset it using the admin control panel then you will probably need to change the status of the admin group by directly changing the database. Try it - I am not sure but I think this will un-ban the admin user group.

Are you logging in as admin? If so then I think you answered your own question. I dont beleive people who are banned can log in so logic would indicate if you can log into admin and your account is a member of the admin user group then that setting, regardless of what it says, is not relevent to the admin user group.
