Default Registration modification

Hi, I would like the "Thank you for registering" email (welcome.tpl) to be sent to the new user once they have validated their email address after registration. Is this possible?

Many thanks

In theory yes however that email sends the user name and password and to include the password it has to be sent as soon as they signup. After this point it is encoded in the database and can't be pulled back out to the original.

With the email validation selected in the administration as would be the case by your posting, I would suggest that you approach your goal as a "Thank you for activating your account" email instead. As Eric has already pointed out, the "Thank you for registering" is already sent out upon registering at the site. It would be kind of redundant to resend that email.

Thanks Eric and Mike,

I think the concern I have is that with email validation the "Thank you for Registering" email that is generated does not include a reminder of the new username and password, just a quick "Thank you..." and then the "Click here to confirm..."

I'll try to work on including the username and password in the first response that gets sent out.

Maybe we are talking about two different things here.

By default, when new user registers it send out a welcome email that includes the username and password. If you have email validation turned on, it also sends out an email confirmation which includes a link for them to click on that validates their account.

Unless you have altered the welcome email, then they should have received their login information.

I think this is where the problem lies then... when new users register with validation turned on only one email seems to be sent out (welcome.tpl is only sent with email validation turned off). So I guess I must have altered something somewhere. Not sure what, though...
