Default Users cannot edit admin added listings

I hope that I am not doing something moronically stupid but when I add listings through the administration system on behalf of a user, that user cannot then edit the listing that I have added? I think 68c thinks it hasn't been paid for.

Can someone please tell me what I'm doing wrong or provide me with any suggestions.

Thanks in advance

when you add the listing, are chosing a user other than admin? Does the ad show up in the list when A user views his ads?

Yes I am choosing a user other than admin and yes the ads appear in the users account and when they try to edit it it gives the following message:

The operation could not be performed because one or more error(s) occurred.
Please resubmit the form after making the following changes:

The description you have entered is to long. Please shorten it to less than 2500 characters.

I've already checked that the ad package selected has enough characters available.

the error is probably correct or close to it.

As admin you can bypass package limits. Make sure that the title, short and long description are all less than the characters you have defined for the package you chose, I beleive this also incluydes white space.

To test this.

Log in to the front end of the site as one of the users thats having problems editing an add and edit one of the problem ads. Delete everything in the description field and just put a single word in its place and see if it will save.

That worked OK, I'll try again from another PC tomorrow and see if it does the same.

I just thought, would I be better off setting up a discount code just for myself, using that to place ads through my own account and then transferring the ad to the appropriate user through the admin panel? Would this avoid any mishaps through adding ads through the admin section, or could I set the character limits really high so I don't fall foul of this again?

Thanks for your help with this, I really appreciate it.

The key is to simply make sure when adding ads for people via admin that you take into account spaces etc as characters in ads, especially if you are doing cut/paste.

You can certainly use coupons and do the cut paste from the front end but your still going to have to deal with the over character limit then.

Thanks again, I'll test that theory some more tomorrow.
