Right now the email subject is the site title default. is there a way to change this?

You can change the subject my editing that email template file. Look in either templates/default/emails/html/
templates/default/emails/text/

Then just find the one you want to change.

Also, by default, the "from" line is the site title which is entered in the admin area. where would i go to change the "from" line data on the emails?
