Admin setup of User Account thwarts Users freedom

Please describe in detail the issue you are having:

1) I set up many client's FEATURE accounts from the admin & all is great. Problems starts when a client comes in to his account from the front end to make changes. For some reason I have not been able to discover, when the account is modified and saved from the front end, the "Feature, Highlight, and Bolded" selections go back to the default of NO and the client's listing vanishes from the Featured area. I have to go back in to reset ofern and this bothers everybody -- especially myself :-)

What could the solution be here?

2) Additionally, customers have often to be told (when setting up their own listings) to click on the three selections -- although it is already included in what they are paying for.

Can I just say "<Itemname>=True" and add this code, in the case of certain products, therefore the defaults for Feature, Highlight, Bold, is always YES? Where can I add this? Is there a way of making it Product-specific? If not, got any ideas?

Try the using the default untouched template and see what happens. If I create an ad package that has featured/bold/highlighted enabled they default to YES at checkout time. Then when you edit the ad those fields dont even show up to be changed and should remain unchanged after the ad is modified.

Hi Larry
By "Default Untouched Template" do you mean the 68C default template? If so, I would see that testing same with the DT would show me if the problem is with the one I am using. However, that still wouldnt solve the problem -- but OK it will get me a few steps closer to determining what the problem actually is. Will get back to you on this & I appreciate the advice.

Prior to going total default, I went back to the earlier FLUID template I'd been using and found the exact same thing to be occurring. Yes, when all Feature/bold/highlighted buttons checked YES in Admin for a customer's package, they do NOT show up in customer's browse. However, when any change is made, ie even spacing on a line of the Description --- Feature/bold/highlighted buttons are returned to NO or OFF, and have to be reset in the Admin Area.

This does not appear to be a Templatecodes problem, but a basic 68C one. I have added some fields, but will experiment and take them out, to get a pure vanilla.

Perhaps Eric on comment on this?

Im not following you, have you tried a default 68C template that shipped with 68C or not? If not, then you cant say its a 68C or template issue. As I mentioned, using a 68C default template, when I edit an ad that is featured/highlighted etc as a user it does not change the initial values.

Sorry If I have been unclear. Here are exact steps detailing problem:

1) In Admin, Manage Products, Featured, Highlight, Bold Options are turned ON in Ad's settings, with a $0.00 cost.
2) I create an advert Listing for a customer from the Admin, ADDING all Bold, Featured, Highlight options.
3) Customer goes in and adds text or pix. Featured, bold, Highlight options are not visible. The new work is saved.
4) Featured, Bold, Highlight options are suddenly turned off as soon as customer saves work and Customer's Ad no longer visible in Featured area.
5) I have to return to Customer Listing in ADMIN to again ADD or Select Featured, Bold, Highlight options, which puts Customer back into the Featured area.

See Sunland-Tujunga.Com. Being a live site I would have to stay up until maybe 3am to change the template back and test. Is there any idea what is happening before I do so?

I understand what you have done and what I am saying is that is not how it seems to work on my test site using the default untouched template.

Your asking for help in troubleshooting your problem and as I have already stated you need to identify if it is a template issue or a code issue and the easiest way to do that is to run through your process above with the 68C default template that has not been altered. If the problem persists, then you have to look at what mods you are running or possibly any code changes you made to the default scripts.

It should only take a couple minutes to change the template and test it so staying up until 3:00am seems a little excessive.

I may be wrong but I do not believe this older templatecode system shipped with usermodifylisting.tpl anyway. The only way as suggested is to text using the default template. I cannot replicate this problem either on our demo system.
