Mully,

The site looks great and runs quickly too. I like the color scheme and layout.

The one thing that I don't understand and I see this very, very, very often is why you have google ads, especially right on the home page. Since Google ads are based on the content of the page it's displayed on, it has ads for classifieds sites. Why would you or anyone else want to have ads on your home page to your competition? Maybe it's just me, but I just don't get it.

Your site does look very good though! Really!

-Mike

Funny its a good point you make I never thought about that !

They are a little diluted by the fact that I have the featured ads there too and hopefully as it grows and I ad more to the home page classified google ads will be over shadowed, but yeah most of the time currently they show other classifieds. Its never bothered me too much as any of the ones I've seen have been non local and generally based in the states so I'm happy enough that even if clicked on my site will still be used.

I guess the home page tends to be the first page people see and if they aren't interested there is a fair chance that folk will jut click on a google ad to go somewhere else so its a chance to get the click from uninterested parties.

Long term I do plan to make it sponsored ad run as opposed to google but that is a distant dream at the minute.

One asthetic thing I'm going to change is the bright blue \ turquoise I think it needs to be just a tad darker I find it a bit hard on the eyes at times. So much going on at the minute its hard to get to even the simplest of changes.

Good luck,
Mully

Looks good! In Firefox the right side of the page has a lot of empty space. Could you make your logo a link to the homepage? Not a big deal, but it is a big logo and I found myself going there first to link to the home page. Also I like the logos on your view listings pages (printer-friendly version, more ads in this category, etc.)

I think all classifieds sites need to have a prices page, if you can list ads for free say that somewhere if not make a page dedicated to it. Thats my opinion.
Also secondly text ads look bad on a classifieds site, going onto your site i would think it is cheap and scummy. I think its fine to have them but not on the front page.

Yes I still have a few pages to get back noline after the upgrade prices being one of them.

Apprecviate the feedback but not too sure I agree with the cheap and scummy comment though !

Sorry i shouldn't have said it like that, but when i first go to a webpage, if there is ads all of the front page it always turns me off. If you have a nice clean front page it sets a good image so it doesnt matter if you have the ads on the inside pages.
Just my opinion.

I know what you mean and I agree to a large degree.

In the defence of listings on the homepage I would it is something you can use to sell the Featured option to potential users as their ad will have the potential for more hits ergo sales, especially when charging for this option.

What I dislike most on a homepage is swathes of text to read, for a classifieds\auctions type site the main things I want on the home page are easy browsing to the listings and a clear good search facility.

Are we talking about the same ads? i was meaning the google adsense on the left hand side, not the featured ads.
